Icon Creations was engaged by Plan Group, working alongside NTC Architects to manufacture and install the featured shelf end panels containing wayfinding signage and displays, they supplied us with a 2D conceptual design, utilising our Industrial design knowledge we were able to take this to a structured 3D form.
Research into material performance, in particular the ply taking into consideration the aesthetic properties of the final outcome; these included the grade of timber for finished appearance post machining, process methodology and fixing methods.
After creating prototypes our client was very excited to have these as the main feature of the library. The industrial design and full manufacture of the shelf ends was undertaken at our Mordialloc factory. Project management of the installation logistics and full installation was also completed by Icon Creations.
The full project included 6 colour variations of panel with a total of 133 at 568 x 2294 x 120mm.
